MALVERN, Pa (August 5th, 2014) – This month’s Hot Lap video covered a wide-range of hot topics in the Mustang World. The AmericanMuscle Car show is coming up very soon and Brett “Big Schwag” Wagner from Pass Time is joining us at the show. He will be there along with Chip Foose and Vaughn Gittin Jr. Vaughn is coming with his RTR crew and will be making a special announcement at the show. We are expecting our largest turn-out yet and could not be more excited about it and all of the money we are raising for the Special Olympics. The show is guaranteed to be a great time with food, music, giveaways, and a slew of special events.

Justin goes for a ride with Mike Zwick in his Kona Blue 2012 Mustang that is aiming to break an all-motor record. His unopened coyote motor has broken in to the high 10 second range in the quarter-mile and is going for the 10.70 record holder’s spot. So far Mike has modded his Mustang with JBA Long Tube Headers, Cobra Jet Intake, mono-blade throttle body, 5” Cold Air Intake, a pulse ring, E85 fuel and is currently putting down 460 hp and 399 lb-ft tq. He is planning on getting rid of more weight in the car, upgrading the suspension, and the water pump. He will attempt to break the record at MIR and AmericanMuscle will be there to cover it.

Justin Dugan updates us on Stage 2 of his 2014 Mustang Project Car. He added a Cobra Jet Intake, mono-blade throttle body, modified his Cold Air Intake to work with the new setup, and added an off road H-Pipe. He also added some more styling cues to bring out the GT500 inspiration and also put his car on the dyno.

AmericanMuscle introduced two new giveaways in the month of August. The first is a C&L Cold Air Intake and Bama SF4/X4 handheld tuner. This is a great modification that any Fox Body to S197 Mustang Owner can benefit from. In order to win this combo contestants must be subscribed to the AmericanMuscle YouTube channel. The second giveaway is a sweepstakes to win a set of Kooks Long Tube Headers and Mid-Pipe for any 96 and up Mustang. Kooks is one of the best exhaust manufacturers around and offer a wide-range of high-quality products. We are proud to offer their exhaust systems and we are excited to give a system away to one lucky sweepstakes winner.

Justin went over some of the most recent 2015 Mustang news which covered the release of the power figures for the 2015 Mustang line up. The 2.3 EcoBoost will offer 310/320 HP/TQ while the 3.7 V6 will have 300/280 HP/TQ, which is a decrease from 305 HP. Ford says that this is due to the redesigned intake manifold that was reshaped to accommodate the lower hood profile. Meanwhile, the 5.0 GT will see an increase of 15/10 HP/TQ over the 2014 model to 435/400 HP/TQ. Ford changed the heads, cams, stiffened the valve springs, and used the BOSS motor’s forged connecting rods to get this increase in power. One drawback to the 2015 model is the new integrated “Mani-Cat” design, where the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter are one complete piece. This ends the days of changing to an off road Mid-Pipe and getting rid of the factory converters.

The SVT rumor mill has been spinning with the latest SVT spy shots and videos. The Dodge Hellcat has come to claim the crown of production horsepower with 707 HP, but there is talk that a more powerful Shelby will be released in 2015/2016 with possibly up to 750 HP. An aggressive S550 Mustang has been spotted on the Nurburgring in Germany. The large brake cross-drilled ceramic brake rotors and pronounced exhaust note, paired with an aggressive body style have earned it the label of the GT350R. No official word has been released as of yet on what it will be or what it will feature.

Stephanie covered some of the new parts AmericanMuscle is now offering. The first was a SR Performance shifter for 2005 -2010 Mustang owners. The SR shifted is constructed from CNC machined aluminum and can reuse the stock shift knob. Not only will it reduce the shifting distance by 40% but it also offers the unique feature of having an adjustable height for the shifter. AmericanMuscle now carries Vossen Wheels for 2005 – 2014 Mustangs. Vossen wheels are a great product that cost slightly more than your average Mustang wheel, however their fitment, finish, and over-all design dictate the higher price point.
