I ordered this 1972 Gran Torino Sport on January 18th,1972 from salesman Frank Becker at Bo Beuckman Ford in Collinsville Illinois and it was delivered on February 25th,1972.I ordered the Rallye Eguipment Group which included the 351C Cobra-Jet 4 barrel V-8 and Ford top-loader 4 speed transmission.Lowest gears available on the Torino were 3.50 to 1 with Traction-Lok differential. The REG also had the stiffer springs and sway bars front and rear and full gauge dash with 6,000 RPM tach.Ordered white bucket seats and console,72 style tinted windows, rear window defroster, intermitent windshield wipers, black top and laser stripes.I also ordered the Ram-Air aircleaner, but Ford called me and said the Ram-Air option was dropped on January 1st,1972,so i bought it over the counter later.
I rebuilt the engine as a Boss 351 in the summer of 1973 with 8,800 miles on the odometer.Between 1973 and 1991 i added or changed performance parts on the engine and car and it has not changed since around 1991,still looks the same today. As of November 22nd 2011 it has 14,455 original miles on it.
