go to a steel yard and get a 4×8 sheet of 3/4 or 1 inch plate steel for the floor bed, believe it or not it will give you enough “lag” to get used to how the truck handles, when you figure you have it down (and the price of steel is right) you can sell it back to the steel yard, did that for my little brothers first truck and it worked surprisingly well
