1957 Turnpike cruiser from Mercury, I have never seen one before. So I spoke with the 80 yr gentleman from Oceanside, Cal. Man what a pleasure it was to speak to him, He is a retired Naval Officer and he bought this car after his first enlistment. He went on to say that these were not sold on the west coast because we didn’t have Turnpikes here so the dealers never ordered them. According to him there are roughly 100 left out of 7000 (and change) built 4 are on the west coast. There is his, 2 in the Bay area, and one way up in NOCAL , he was a wealth of knowledge and a great person to talk to. The car was stock except for the brakes, according to him the car had independent 4 wheel brakes that were not good, so he updated to a more modern system( not wilwood though) And the documentation, he had ever article, book and publication to go with the car.
