You can keep your Ferrari. Just give me a 1968 Mustang Fastback GT with a nasty blacked-out grill and a throaty 390 under the hood, like the one McQueen drove in Bullitt. Two different Mustangs were reportedly used for that film. The first was so beat up after shooting that it was sent to the crusher, according to a 2001 report in Forbes. The other car was sold in the early 1970s for $6,000, and again in 1974. When McQueen heard about the sale, he called the New Jersey man who bought it, and asked him to resell the car. The buyer refused, but promised to call McQueen if he ever changed his mind. „Unfortunately McQueen died in 1980 without having heard from the owner, who to this day has refused dozens of requests for the car.“
