anybody know of some legal offroad places?
I want to get some people together and off road and have a bbq so if anyone knows of a good spot to offroad contact me. mojave desert is good but mostly for dirt bikes and quads.

Have you thought about any
Have you thought about any wooded areas around you? You can also ask property owners if you can use their land to 4 wheel if they have some open area. We have a beach that you can drive on as well but doesn't allow overnight parking and requires everyone to be out by Midnight or so.
I've always asked a few buddies I hunt with and drive on their property.

I can't think of anywhere
I can't think of anywhere we used to offroad when I was a kid. At least not that it was 100% legal. We mostly used abandoned lots and the like. I've heard good things about Pismo Beach, but it was a bit far for us.
Pismo Beach Dunes
Have you checked out the Pismo Beach, CA (central coast)? They have a beach you can drive on, no crazy trails but if your truck can handle it, its got pretty decent sized dunes as well. Camping, dirt biking and bon fires are allowed. Lots of fun, just park your truck too close to the water, high tide gets a lot of vehicles.

That seems pretty interesting. Most that I know play around on the land they already own for having the issue of finding a legal place. And yes the dunes are very nice but your going to want to make sure your truck can handle it for sure. ;)
Silver Lake Sand Dunes - Hart, MI
For anyone living in the MidWest, Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Hart, Michigan has a section of dunes reserved just for ORV. They allow bikes, buggies, trucks, basically anything goes. I have never been off-road driving myself but I know it is popular with a lot of people in the area.

I wouldn't want to take
I wouldn't want to take your truck where there are 4 wheeler and bikes either. Is there anywhere else in the desert close by that you can go to? The beach sounds like an ideal solution if there isn't. You can also see if there are any truck groups around and either join or try and see where they go.
