I havent played Gran Turismo yet on Playstation 3, how is it?

I have not played anything on the ps 3 yet but my friends who have say that it isn't that much better than ps 2. I still want to get one though.

I have no idea since I am still waiting for the PS3 prices to drop, I still see many online that are $400+ and I'm just not ready to make that investment for a game system I'm not sure I will really like.
