Does anyone know if it is possible to mount crown vic style push bars on a 2004 Ford Taurus SE? I mean not exactly the crown vic set, but a set simular to them?
That would depend on which push bars. Some of the police ones do a sort of wrap over the bumper cover. They probably wouldn't work without quite a bit of modification. Having said that, police have used generation 4 Taurus's and had push bars on them (here is an example http://t3.gstatic.com/images?… ), it likely would be hard finding a straight bolt on set for your ride, but a little modifying could make the CI ones work. Or you could design your own. Weld up some tubular steel and mounting brackets to match your frame.
Yea those are pretty similar to what I was looking for. I just got to make sure they don't interfere with the airbag system. And I have noticed on my taurus there is a big frame right under the bumper that protects the starter and radiator. I could try and use that to customize brackets for crown vic style push bars. But hey I appreciate the help, now I just have to see where the airbag sensors are so I can avoid them.
The nice thing about doing them custom is you don't have to worry if they will fit and mount fine, because you will desgin them so that they will. Some tubular steel, nice tight welds and black paint and you're all set.
