Whats the Best Refurbish Plan for LTD?

Last week, I got my hands on a Crown Vic LTD, 82, from a farm just so a couple of demo derby boys didnt' get a chance to kill it. Problem is, its been sitting for a while, and it doesn't run the best. Had to replace the fuel pump to keep it from spitting gas all over the block and manifold causing fires, and it just isn't going to keep running on a cheap fix.

My big question is, should I try to rebuild the old 302, or is it possible I could transplant a 351 into it? I'd like to put some performance in it for fun, but mind you I'm a cruiser over a racer, so I don't want to kill my low end torque; hence my preference to 351 so I can have better horsepower without sacrificing easy going cruise power.

I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Good find, i think if your looking at a budget fix, depending on the shop or if your doing it yourself, id say a rebuild of the old 302 will be cost effective. But similar to you i always prefer a few extra horses to have fun with and might choose the 351 as the way to go. Let us know how the project turns out.
