A new satellite navigation system that works locally is now being introduced with the FG Falcons this month in Australia, which is a first for automotive consumers here. I have read that real-time traffic information has been available in Europe for years, but are they local systems (I assume they would be), and is this technology readily available in the US as well?

Are you talking about GPS

Are you talking about GPS type sat nav systems with real time traffic? That being the case then yes, I believe they have been available in the US and UK for some time, with systems like Tom Tom. The maps are local, you couldn't take a GPS unit from one country to another.

Yes, they would be the

Yes, they would be the ones. Australia is behind then… lol. Ford and Suna are coming together to bring the Suna Traffic Channel available as an option with all FG Falcon models, as a new in-dash satellite navigation system.

It kind of makes sense that

It kind of makes sense that Oz would be a little slower on the uptake as they were developed for and by the US military, and then came online for the public here first. From here they are making their way across the world-the satellite network has been in place for a long time, it was just a case of you guys buying the devices and having someone write the maps for you.

The technology is good, in fact its a wonderful system for navigation. It'll take off pretty fast I would think.
