When you suffer a small scratch, how do you deal with it? Do you use the little do it yourself scratch kits that you can buy from stores? Have you had any success with them-or do they always look patchy and stand out?

Depending on if the scratch went into the color or just the top coat I will wax the car more often or pick up a scratch kit. I've found that using a different art brush to apply the scratch paint from the kit helps make it easier to contain without making it huge and ugly.

There are some scratch kits that are very cheap. I would rather pay a little more to get something I know will work as I had afew issues in the past trying to save a couple bucks.

As bad as the kits are, if the scratch went all the way through the paint and exposed metal, then there is a risk of the metal rusting if it isn't covered. You need to cover it-and a scratch kit would do that.

Anyone know if scratch kits will work the same on bikes as they do car paints, or at least similar pricing? I got a buddy who had to dump his bike and is looking for one and I have no idea what to tell him other than the internet.

I would think that its all about the same. Motorcycle paint is exposed to higher temperatures potentially, so depending on where the scratch is you might be fine just using a normal scratch kit.

Thanks, that's a good idea. The brushes that come with them are never very good, and you are probably right that it's a good chunk of the reason that the results are so poor.
