Ford Drives U
Ford Motor Company is targeting the college age consumer through their Ford Drives U Facebook page. The page promotes a $500 incentive to college students toward their purchase or lease of a new 2007 or 2008 Ford, Mercury or Lincoln. My only concern with this program is to question whether we really should encourage this type of debt among college students. Most college students have taken out loans for school and will have to take out loans for a new car. In my opinion, this program is helping to add more fuel to an already debt-saturated demographic.

Only $500?
I don't think that small of an incentive will entice them to buy a new car. I think the aim is more towards the college student who is already considering a new car – the incentive is to push them to Fords instead of going with Chevrolet, etc.

Its not actually just based towards college kids, but more towards high school students and I imagine freshman who may want a new car to take to college. It does include a lease which $500 towards would be a pretty good deal. And $500 is better then nothing.
