Hail Damage
Is there any DIY way to get rid of hail damage or is it really something you need to get a professional to take care of? I know you can pop out small dents yourself, but are hail dents different?

I am always worried about hail even if I'm not driving my own car. We had a storm the other month that I was worried the top was going to cave in. I really wish we had a garage to park our cars in too.

I have never, ever suffered hail damage in twenty years of on street parking. I don't think it's a huge problem unless you get caught out in a storm producing 3 inch hail.

Its rather odd, I've never got caught out in one (or had one pass over since I live right on the water so its normally not right for big hail) but we've had three in the past couple of years that have lead to huge hail discount sales. Been thinking about picking one up if I can get the physical damage fixed for a decent cost.

It depends on how hard the strike was. If it was hard enough there might be some ‚stretching‘ of the metal, not just a dent, in which case there isn't much can be done for it because it will show even when its popped out.
Embark makes a good point.
Embark makes a good point. You also may have chipped paint if the strike was too hard and need to do some touch up work to avoid rust damage. Many times, because there are so many different individual strikes, when comes to hail damage I think it is best to seek out professional help.

I have on an one beater car so we really never paid much attention to it. It wasn't a great deal to start with just a little hail but as some storms show hail can be evil on any vehicle.
