XP or Vista?
Which do you prefer? I have been using XP for quite a few years now and don't feel the need or desire to upgrade to Vista yet. I have noticed on other systems that Vista can be a bit slow and annoying, and it doesn't support older programs very well, so I am going to wait a little while longer before I get my own Vista system. Hopefully by then all the bugs will have been worked out as well.
I just redid a spare
I just redid a spare system I have as on Windows (was running XP) a hard drive blew and I just threw Linux (Fedora) on the spare drive. It shows a ton of clean windows which I love and I really dont need windows right now.
The desktop pc I use
The desktop pc I use everyday actually came with Vista Home Basic on it. I bought it brand new in Feb 2007. It also only has 512 MB of Ram. So, you can imagine the horrible time I had trying to use Vista. I ended up ordering XP Pro a few months ago and installing it instead. It has been so much better. I just don't understand why HP allowed computers that don't even have 1G of Ram to be manufactured and sold with Vista installed. But, I guess they were just out for the money like everyone else.

I have Vista
Vista itself is not a bad system but it definitely uses a ton of resources. I was warned ahead of time so my latest purchase (with Vista) I made sure to get 2 gb of RAM and it runs nicely on that. I have had a few issues of software incompatibility but since I don't use a lot of external programs, it hasn't been a big problem for me. If you are already on XP and happy, there is no reason to upgrade.
I bought a brand new
I bought a brand new laptop, 2GB and good graphics, dual core-all the good stuff. It ran like treacle and was always hanging and freezing. It was a horrible system, and wouldn't install the drivers that I needed for various hardware devices that I already owned.
I went back to XP.

I'm in the market for a new
I'm in the market for a new laptop and it has to have XP. I'm use to it. I have a friend that has a lap top with the Vista and it downloads like she is on dial-up, but she's not. The whole format just looks hokie.
