Has Ford come out with a solar powered vehicle yet? I seem to remember hearing about one but I don't know if it was a Ford or if my mind was just addled for awhile. Would a solar powered car even be worth owning?

Although a solar powered car is an awesome idea, I have never heard of one other than experimental stuff. Would be a tough sell up here in New England but I would think something like that would be more feasible on the west coast.
The closest thing I have seen which is not ford but it was a rerun on Reading Rainbow (I have kids okay) and it was something back in the late 80's that looked like a tear drop shaped car, no idea what the make was. I think they said GM but I could be wrong.
Until they improve solar cell technology you won't see a solar powered commercial vehicle. The thing would have to be huge to collect enough sunlight to run on. I've seen a few experimental vehicles and they were 90% solar panels. It would be nice though.

I agree with George. I've seen a few solar cars in science competitions and the things were almost all panel to give them enough power to run the things. Unless solar technology really moves forward I don't see a solar powered car going into production.
I think it will be several years down the road before we might see an all solar powered vehicle available out on the market. It's too bad too, because it's almost to the point that people can no longer afford to drive anywhere now.

I cant find anything online about it other than articles, no pictures I mean. Does anyone know if any even exist?
