I've been looking for a reliable locking gas cap for my 2002. There doesn't seem to be much of a choice on Ebay (I found two sellers) and not much in a price range either. Price isn't too much of an issue, as if its a good gas cap, and it locks, its what I need. I'd like to get one before gas prices hit $4/gal. Any ideas for a good place to purchase?

I think I would try to

I think I would try to keep my car in a garge of some sort before hand, but then again I see the reason people will be jumping over this one too for when your away from home/work and cant do the lock it up deal.

Believe me when I say that

Believe me when I say that locking gas caps aren't really that effective. I had one before and my mechanic said he could get it off in under a minute. I said prove it and about 45 seconds later it was in my hand. It took him 30 secs just to get the screw driver. I don't bother with them any more and let my car alarm work for me instead.

I've been debating this for

I bought one for my vehicle, as my driveway is long and the garage is far enough away from the house I might not hear the alarm if I am sleeping heavily or the AC is on in the summer. I would imagine it would also leave more evidence for the police should someone decide to pop it off and take the gas anyway.

I actually bought mine at

I actually bought mine at Walmart. Auto stores carry the same brand at a couple bucks more and they sell for twice as much on Ebay. The price range went from $5–20 depending on the car and presumably the thread pattern or some other arbitrary difference.
