Detroit Autorama – 2012

(Detroit, MI) – The Detroit Autorama is a large showcase of custom-built cars held each year at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan. It is put on by the Michigan Hot Rod Association and is held every year in March. As of 2012, the show has been in existence for 60 years.

The show visits multiple major cities all over the U.S. every year. If you’re looking to see some of the best rides in the nation the Autorama show in Detroit is the place to be. Hot Rods, drag cars, modern cars, muscle cars, vendors…you name it, it’s there. The show was 3 days long, but I was only there for about 5 hours. Even in that much time it was impossible to see every ride in the show. I definitely recommend the show to anyone that can make the trip. I know I’ll be going again.

The Detroit show is held is the Cobo Center which is in downtown. It is extremely easy to get to, even for people that don’t venture into major cities often. If you don’t enjoy crowds you better get there as soon as the show starts in the morning. During midday the amount of people in attendance is incredible.

There are always plenty of famous people that come to entertain and attract more visitors, but I came solely for the cars. Ford, GM, and Dodge were all in attendance to show off old and new vehicles.
