coolfords.com is pleased to announce their 2012 SEMA Digital Project Car: a custom matte army green 2012 F-150 SVT Raptor. The annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) expo just days away, and custom vehicle builders and parts manufacturers around the globe are burning the midnight oil to get their projects ready for the show.

In the spirit of SEMA, CoolFords decided to subject themselves to a demanding 32 hour digital build.

The SEMA Show is the ultimate automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products each year to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Last year’s SEMA Digital Project Car was a 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, and this year CoolFords decided to go off roading with the biggest and baddest production Ford truck available. The truck of choice is the F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew with the 6.2L V8 engine.

Jason Gavin, the owner of coolfords.com has been working extremely hard this year to create a website for Ford enthusiasts to hang out and show off their own rides. With nearly 2,000 user-submitted rides on the website and over 32,000 fans on Facebook, Jason wanted to represent the CoolFords brand by creating a custom SEMA Show vehicle that would be parked side by side all the other amazing cars and trucks on display at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Funds from the enthusiast website can’t yet cover the bill, so the next best thing was to digitally create a design and show it off online.

For this project, CoolFords was again very excited to partner with RPM-3D, “The Leader in 3D Motorsports Graphics” to take their vision and digitally create it. In typical SEMA fashion, they put the pressure on Justin Jacobs and his crew at RPM-3D to come up with a Ford truck design with just 32 hours to work.

The end result is a matte army green 2012 F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew with matte black CoolFords decals wrapped around the truck. CoolFords is extremely pleased with the results and RPM-3D once again exceeded expectations.

RPM-3D started with a 2012 F-150 SVT Raptor Custom 3D Model from SQUIR, a great 3D artist and modeler. Normally, they build their own 3D custom models from scratch, but the time frame and budget constraints did not allow for that, so they setup a licensed model with the help of their own 3D artist “Jeff Strong”, who created the render environment and shader settings. From there they designed the base SVT Raptor scheme and took the coolfords.com logo and started rendering out viewing angles and backdrop ideas.

As with last years design of the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, RPM-3D wanted to provide a custom look specifically for CoolFords. Taking into account that if some day Ford Motor Company or some rich person decided to donate a brand new F-150 SVT Raptor, then CoolFords may want to actually build this car. So if this dream ever came true they designed it in a way that would allow that to easily take place without too much extra expense or work on their end.
