10 Cool Rides at the 2012 Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson Auction

Every year the Barrett-Jackson has its annual Collector Car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, and every year you can expect a wide range of Vintage, Classic, Exotic and Custom vehicles, ranging in price from Multi-Million Dollar rides to vehicles under $10K and everything in between.

And with some 1,300+ vehicles being auctioned off there is plenty to see while either at the Auction in person or while watching the Live Speed TV coverage at home, but what are some interesting and unique Ford related vehicles at the auction? Well we created a list of 10, yes just 10, it wasn’t very easy, but these are some fine examples ranging from an amazing ’65 GT-350 Barn find! to a ’57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Pace Car! so these should not be missed by any fan of Cool Fords! and there is a little bit of everything for everybody here, and the Auction runs from January 15-22

1. Lot #1560 1957 Ford F-100 Custom

This beautifully restored ’57 F-100 will take you back in time when things were much more simple. It’s amazing how stunning this truck looks with just a few custom tricks from the day. From the Cragar SS wheels to the redline tires, everything flows together very nice. It’s also received hand-laid pinstripes the same way it was done in the 60’s. With a little chrome added here and there, the final outcome is a stunning 1957 Ford F-100 big back window short box.

2. Lot #930.3 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible

Here is a gorgeous triple black convertible, beautifully restored and in excellent condition inside and out. This car is as clean and straight as they come. It is an original Black Plate California car originally from Beverly Hills. This Lincoln is straight as an arrow down the sides and looks stunning. Absolutely everything lines up perfectly in this immaculate restoration. This car has been completely gone through by a Lincoln expert who has fine tuned everything.

Its loaded with a 430cid V8, automatic transmission, power windows, power locks, 6-way power seat, power steering, power brakes, factory air conditioning, original hub caps and wide white tires that are brand new. The all-black authentic leather interior was just professionally done and looks amazing. It features all new carpet and real leather. It also has a brand new, stay-fast, Mercedes-style cloth top. The convertible top has recently been serviced and goes up and down flawlessly.

3. Lot #957.1 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Convertible Indianapolis 500 Pace Car

1,265 Turnpike Cruiser convertibles were built in 1957, fewer still as Pace Car replicas. Beautifully finished in Sun Glitter Yellow, with matching black and yellow interior and loaded with every option that Ford’s designers and engineers could dream up and equipped with 368/290hp Turnpike Cruiser engine. This Pace Car has undergone a highly detailed restoration.

4. Lot #1016.2 1968 Shelby GT-500 Convertible

This Shelby GT-500 4-speed convertible is just one of 153 built in 1968 and is the recipient of a complete rotisserie restoration. It was refinished in its correct Candy Apple Red with white power softtop and features a host of documented factory options. Glass backlite, visibility group, décor group, tilt away steering column, cooling package, HD battery, power steering, power brakes, AM radio, wheel lip moldings and most important of all it is a documented 4-speed car. Shelby 10-spoke wheels riding on correct Goodyear Speedway 350 4 ply tires. 5. Lot #1263.1 1965 Shelby GT-350

An amazing barn find that was owned by its original owner until 2009. It has complete documentation that includes a copy of the original sales agreement from Shelby American to Galpin Ford and shipped to Webster Ford in Caruthers, Calif., who sold it to the original owner on September 29, 1965. It has a California Pink Slip, the sales agreement between Webster Ford and the original owner and the California Black plates are still on the car. It has the original, matching numbers engine and drivetrain, original paint and interior with 44,000 original miles. All original sheet metal, glass and wheels. The engine and transmission have been freshened and the car is very drivable. There is photo documentation of removing it from its resting place of many years.

6. Lot #1021 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302

For the purist who wants an untouched Boss 302, this is a time capsule survivor with 33,653 original miles. Original build date of September 22nd, 1969 and sold 17 days later on October 9th, 1969 in Dallas, TX. An unrestored, original sheet metal car that retains its matching numbers drivetrain. Factory Grabber Orange paint with its unrestored original White Rhino interior. One of only 292 Boss 302s in this combination. The car includes a 3.50 rear axle ratio, Corinthian vinyl high back bucket seats, power front disc brakes, quick ratio steering, color keyed racing mirrors, competition suspension, front spoiler, instrument gauges, AM radio and tinted glass. The original factory invoice and Marti Report lists all the car’s options. It is a true example of a 1970 Boss 302 muscle car preserved in pristine survivor condition.305.db6fac726e06
7. Lot #453 1967 Mercury Cyclone GT

Presenting a completely restored 1967 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT. This rare car was built in Los Angeles and sold at Thomas Motors in Dalles, OR on 7/20/1967. As the Marti Report indicates, only 3,420 Cyclones were built with a GT package. Of the 3,420, only 1,581 were built with a 4-speed transmission. This car is one of 11 cars built with these paint and trim codes. It’s full restoration was completed in 2011. It retains all of its original sheet metal except the floor pans. The factory correct Cardinal Red paint shines beautifully.

The original glass is in excellent condition. All the exterior trim is new. The exterior is complimented with factory correct parchment bucket seats with black appointments. Being an S Code car, it has a 390cid 4V engine that produces 335hp. It’s coupled with its factory correct 4-speed transmission and limited slip rear axle with a 3.25 gear ratio. This car was ordered with the following features black vinyl roof, GT equipment group, 4-speed transmission, limited slip differential, courtesy light group, F70-14 wide oval tires, AM radio, interval windshield wipers, rear seat speaker, tinted windshield and tachometer.

8. Lot #446 1946 Lincoln Club Coupe

This is a beautiful, restored V12 Lincoln in excellent condition inside and out. This beauty has been very well pampered its whole life and it shows. It has power windows, AM radio and wide white wall tires. The car was just released from a very high-quality private collection. It is all correct, from front to back. The engine and transmission were fully rebuilt.

9. Lot #409.1 1974 Ford Bronco “Ranger”

This 1974 Ford Bronco has been cosmetically and mechanically restored. Started with an original solid Bronco. The goal of this restoration was to return it to like new condition. The Marti Report shows some rare features on this Bronco. This hard to find Bronco is equipped with a Ranger package, automatic, air conditioning and a 302 Windsor V8

10. Lot #691 1974 Ford F-100 “Ranger XLT”

An awesome and rare vehicle with 12,600 actual miles. Showroom, original condition. Runs and drives like a new truck. Only driven minimally when new and then stored for 30 years. Original paint and interior in superb condition. Always pampered, never used as a truck as the bed is scratch and dent-free. Dealer undercoated when new. Fully optioned and everything works as it should. Original spare tire which has never been on the ground. Have two original Window Stickers, owner’s manual, warranty facts booklet, 1974 Ford consumer information booklet and original plastic Ford envelope.

Dealer installed Unity spotlight. Options include custom styleside, Midnight Blue Metallic paint, 360 cid V8, Ranger XLT package, ammeter and oil pressure gauge, Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, AM radio, tinted glass, protection group, wheel covers and chrome rear bumper. Things recently done to the truck include new vintage correct Firestone white wall tires, new complete dual exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers, Motorcraft battery, shocks and new master cylinder. Everything works properly including all lighting, gauges, power equipment, air conditioning and radio. The engine compartment is original, clean and new in appearance.
