It’s not every day you get the opportunity to have your car featured in a 60-second commercial for a major company like NAPA Auto Parts. I must say, over the years of running CoolFords.com I have met a great deal of interesting people in the automotive industry from Carroll Shelby to Edsel Ford, but I have also had the privilege of building up my rolodex of automotive business associates. One such contact that I have partnered with over the years on various projects is Robbie Vasquez of the branding agency 426 Inc.

I was told there would be a fair amount of burnouts in the commercial so my first thoughts were hoping my ‘ole girl could handle the aggression. She had been parked in the garage for the last couple months with some ignition issues and a dead battery.
For help acquiring the cars and as part of the commercial, my brother and I were equipped with new Reactive One brakes, Nitto tires and American Series wheels for my Mustang. This was a legit production with over 22 ReplayXD cameras used as well as stunt driver and National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Funny Car driver Jon Capps to handle the maneuvers. It was a little relief knowing a professional would be in the driver seat of our cars.
Over 30 hours of video footage was cut to create the 60-second commercial. At the end of the spot, you can see that Jon Capps has spelled out “One” in skid marks, effectively creating a piece of art using a rotor, rubber and asphalt. It’s pretty cool to see ours cars in professional production like this and we thank Robbie, Jon and the guys at Optimus and ONE at Optimus who directed and edited the video.
