Every September the city of San Diego hosts Fleetweek which is week long series of events honoring the men and women of our military. Part of the events include the Coronado Speed Festival which is essentially a car show and racing event held on an active Navy base (this is the only event in the country that is held on an active base which makes it even more fun to attend). This gallery features the car show and racing coverage I captured at the 2011 Coronado Speed Festival. *Images are of the Ford vehicles at the event but I have a full gallery of all of the images I captured during the car show available on my website (www.hpr56.com). Here's a snippet of the description of the Speed Fest from their website: “The event would be called the Coronado Speed Festival, and vintage cars from around the country would race at Naval Air Station North Island, on a track that was created in days – a spectator-friendly 1.7 mile course, constructed on the runways and taxiways of the military base”.
